ARTIST STATEMENT

Bush Track draws on fragmented memory and everyday gestures to piece together a portrait of a life lived in close rhythm with a specific landscape. Muriel once lived in the same house I do now, though seventy years apart; her daily routines are echoed in my own, walking the bush track, milking the cows, digging in the garden. This video forms one component of a larger body of research exploring the histories and textures of the place where I live, weaving together personal recollections, rural labour, and the landscape as a carrier of memory.
