ARTIST STATEMENT

This second portrait of Cedric Rapana draws from religious iconography. Rapana is a ex-gangster, who converted to Christianity. In this photo he is praying. His clothing, apparently reminiscent form his old life, is in stark contrast with the environment, however the word Hallelujah, in Te Reo - Hareruia, is emblazoned on it, and the light shining from above depicts God shining His light on Rapana, a new man.
