ARTIST STATEMENT

My photography is a fusion of my Chinese heritage and my life in rural Southland. It’s a journey that finds me at home in Otautau on New Year's, using long exposure to capture the ethereal beauty of the Aurora Australis.

Beyond the Southern Lights, I also pursue my passion for aviation and sports photography. My work is informed by the masters of the medium, with this year's studies focusing on the innovative techniques of Jerry Tagikawa and the precise compositions of Edward Weston. This diverse practice allows me to explore the dynamic interplay of culture, nature, and action through the lens.
