ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is an intuitive and immediate exploration of the Native American land wars. Using paint, I capture the historical urgency and violence of these conflicts. My images, including maps, guns, and the symbolic representation of blood on hands convey the struggle for land and identity.
I use a distinct color palette of red and blue to symbolize the opposing forces and the two separate conflicts, highlighting historical tension. This body of work is a critical reflection on these events and their lasting impact, and it's a journey I plan to continue in my Visual Arts studies in Dunedin.
