ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a ceramic artist living and practicing in Dunedin and Central Otago. Like much of my art this piece is strongly connected to a time and place, in this case a trip to Lake Hauroko. The clay has been thrown and altered into forms that are derived from my fascination with the small driftwood pieces that lie at the edge of the lake. I chose the colours that live in my recollection of that gorgeous day, they recall the bush, the leaf litter and the tannin-stained water.
