In this Kids Create session, tamariki will explore installation-making by creating tiny birds using strapping material and paint pens.

Inspired by the Forged exhibition and the material used by artist Te‘Okotā‘i Paitai, this activity invites children to engage with and discover how individual creations can come together to form something strong and playful. They can keep some birds to make their own mini installations at home, contribute others to our gallery window flock at He Waka Tuia, and even swap birds with other tamariki, exchanging creations for ones made by their peers to add to their own collection.
