What’s your cookie memory?

For artist Diane Golez, it begins with a specific childhood memory. Every Christmas, her aunt in Invercargill would send a tin of butter cookies to her grandmother in the Philippines who would open it up and share the treats with her grandkids. To Golez, cookies will always taste like childhood joy and family connection.

Plated Memories is about bringing those exact feelings to life. In this session, we are recreating that nostalgic joy and preserving it on a plate.

You’ll be making your own cookie display on a plate using pre-sculpted cookie bases and toppings. Just a quick heads-up: these cookies are art sculptures, not edible treats!

How the session works:
• You’ll choose your favourite cookie style from the "menu" and get a fun recipe card with instructions.
• You’ll pick out your "ingredients" (pre-sculpted cookie, toppings and paint) and head to your table.
• You’ll paint your cookie, add the finishing touches, secure it onto your display plate, and artfully arrange the crumbs around it to capture that perfect, messy memory.

Taking it home:
We’ll pack your piece safely in a box for you. After a week of air-drying at home, it will be fully set. You can then display it proudly on your wall or on a plate stand to bring a little bit of that childhood joy into your home every day.
