Kids Create – Where Art, Connection, and Fun Come Together!
Looking for a creative, free, and relaxed after-school activity for your child? Kids Create at He Waka Tuia is the perfect place for tamariki to explore their artistic side, meet new friends, and spend quality time with their parents or guardians.
Every Thursday from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM, we offer a space for children and their families to enjoy hands-on craft activities inspired by our current exhibitions. Whether they’re discovering a new hobby or getting creative with friends, there’s something for everyone. No need to book—just drop in and have fun!
Please note: Kids Create runs during our exhibitions, with each round of sessions inspired by the art or collection items we have on display. As we change exhibitions, the craft activities will shift to reflect the new themes, keeping things fresh and exciting each time.
KIDS CREATE | LITTLE HEIRLOOM FRAMES
Thursday 1 May, 3PM-4.30PM
Join us for a fun hands-on activity where kids can decorate their own wooden photo frame ornaments, inspired by the special heirlooms in our exhibition.
They'll design their frames mosaic-style using craft gems and beads. Once finished, they can take it home, let it dry, and later add a photo or drawing — a little memory to look back on in the future.
